ANNUALS

ANNUALS

A true annual is a plant that completes its life cycle in one season. Typically growing from a seed in spring, it quickly becomes mature and produces an abundance of flowers whose primary job is to make as many seeds as possible, ensuring reproduction. After producing and dropping the seeds, the plant dies.

Annuals are easy to grow in flowerbeds or in containers on your porch or balcony. Six or more hours of direct sunlight is best for most annuals but there are plenty of annuals that prefer shade or partial shade. Deadheading (removing faded flowers) keeps most plants blooming as long as possible. There are some varieties that are self-cleaning and do not require deadheading.  Feeding regularly through the season is essential for great flower production and general good health.
